EMHC | Extraordinary Ministers Of The Holy Communion is a ministry from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Antonio Texas, USA that donated their time to bring the Eucharist and companionship to those unable to get to Mass. We, the EMHC, goes to nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living homes, and private homes, in order to reach people desiring Communion and a connection to their Church.
"Then He took the bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.' And likewise the cup after they had eaten saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you."
The Eucharist is the summit and source of our life as Catholic Christians. When we come together we form church. We celebrate the liturgy that allows us to hear God's Word and receive the Body and Blood of Jesus in the Eucharist. EMHC are men and women who are called to this ministry after prayer and reflection. EMHC should be persons who have developed a good prayer life and who regularly attend the liturgy. It is a privilege to be called EMHC and to nourish our brothers and sisters in the community with the Body and Blood of Jesus.
This is a very challenging and rewarding ministry! Any man or woman who has received Sacrament of Confirmation and feels so called to be part of this ministry, should APPLY. If you feel a desire or a calling to bring our Lord, Jesus Christ, please contact the rectory office.
